OBJECTIVES
The key objectives of the Ifakara Demographic Surveillance System are:
1. To document all births, deaths, migrations and socio-economic information in the IC-DSS Area
2. To implement and evaluate the impact of intervention and programs on the above indicators.
3. To promote the use of information for policy formulation and health action.
4. To provide a framework for leading-edge, population- based health research with collaboration with other INDEPTH DSS sites.
5. To monitor the PRS/ MDG indicators
6. To work towards the systematic use of such information for better health at the local, national and international level.
