The Key Objectives of Ifakara Health research and development centre are

Objective 1	The management efficiency of the Centre to ensure effective programmed performance and financial viability is strengthened.
Objective 2	Interdisciplinary research on household determinant of health and service utilization focusing on equity is implemented.
Objective 3	Evaluation of efficacy and effectiveness of interventions against major causes of morbidity and mortality is carried out.
Objective 4	District wide implementation and evaluation of Antimalarial combination therapy in inhibiting drug resistance.
Objective 5	To promote and undertake demand-driven health system research within the context of Health Sector Reform (HSR), or training in health development issues based on the Center’s comparative advantage and on demand.
Objective 6	The translation of research results into public health action is ensured and strengthened.
Objective 7	Utilisation of center’s facilities to support training activities of health practitioners is enhanced
